How do I get quotations when buying a 3 bed house?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

Hi, I was wondering about how to go about getting quotes from builders for work on a new 3 bed flat on the four floor of a block than I am about to purchase, it needs a significant amount of work including replacement window in all rooms, plastering 3 of the bedroom walls, and the fitting of a new shower, bathtub and new flooring? Any advice on how to get quotes would be great.

Sometimes it can be hard to get a quotation for work in a house that you don’t own yet, my best advice would be find local well reviewed all trades contractors and email them exactly what you are planning and be honest, be up front about not yet owning the property. You might find that some will give you an estimate rather than a quote due to not having any dates and price fluctuations in materials.

This is a bit of a tricky question but using a trusted project manager who can pull together trade quotes for you might be a good course of action.

Best of luck. No estimates will be the same. Working on the 4th floor comes with a lot of restrictions and complications that need to be considered. Parking the van?/how to get materials up? waste down? Then as always is the question do fellow outside contractors (plumbers/electrician/plasterers) want to work at the 4th floor?? Any Building contractor would be very cautious of this.
