Installing Oval window to the far end of the wall, not in centre, is it wrong ?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

Hi All, I'm considering adding a window to improve the lighting in my second reception room. This room used to have a blocked-off section that was originally a door, far right at the end of the wall, but it has been knocked down to create an opening. My house is an end-terrace. The challenge is that the knocked-down area isn't symmetrical or centered on the wall, making it tricky to decide on the right window shape. We're leaning towards installing an oval window instead of a rectangular one because we believe it might blend better in the house. It is a decorative window. Please see the photo [https://photos.app.goo.gl/9ESMA73ZWj4JQ1Tp6] However, it's important to note that next to this reception room is the hallway, followed by the staircase and a bathroom. We cannot create another opening to make things symmetrical. Given these constraints, we're wondering if it would be better to consider converting this space into a door instead of a window. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thank you very much for your help.

This is a tough one to answer without seeing your house or photos. But consider a shaped/round window will be far more expensive than a square/rectangular window.
