Which wooden sash window restrictors and safety film?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

We've been asked to fit restrictors on two of our wooden sash windows to make sure they 'don't allow window to open more than 100mm without removing restrictors'. This is from the council, to bring them in line with building regs as the sills are below 800mm off the ground. Double glazed sash windows with cords at the side. (We live in a conservation area). Not sure which restrictors are best though - side or front facing, or something else eg one in the middle? Good brands? This is the site we're looking at and we're not sure if one type or another is going to be an issue (eg would side-fixing not be possible due to the cords?) I'd add a picture but no option to. https://www.mightonproducts.com/category/sash-window-hardware/restrictors-and-security/ We also have to add a safety film and were going to go for this as it seems to be the right standard: https://www.evowrap.co.uk/product/safety-window-film/ We can't ask the window fitters who apparently should have done this to start with - just want to make sure we don't buy the wrong restrictors.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

What also should be taken into consideration is the accessibility for security and health and safety issues. Do not reserve your decision making solely on price or authentics.
