Damp Proofing
Waterproofing brick wall
Anonymous user 18 February 2024 - 2.30 PM
Hello everyone,
I reside in a 1940s house and I'm seeking advice on how to waterproof the brick walls. Rendering is a bit beyond my budget, so the second option recommended is to use waterproofing creams or paint. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on the recommended type for this purpose.
Thank you!

I agree that Stormguard Masonry Cream is the correct product. It carries BBA approval and has been tested to last at least 25 years. To our knowledge, there is no other product that matches it and we have first-hand experience of its effectiveness from applying it for the past 8 years.

I'm afraid it really is worth finding the money to waterproof render the walls it will save you money in the long run as the creams and paints won't last long and then you will be having to take everything back and starting again
So he understands that the waterproof membrama is more expensive, but it really works for years. But you can inject the wall and paint with waterproof paint and paint with glass water This will also protect your walls
If you waterproof the outside of the walls then your trapping moisture on the inside (moisture from cooking, people etc). This will then cause mould and other internal problems. Houses need to be able to let moisture pass through the walls. If you render, use a lime insulating render so you get the benefit of the insulation but the house can let moisture pass through.
