Can plastering a bathroom cause black dust to form?
Anonymous user 17/03/2024 - 2.30 PM
We have a problem with thick black dust (it's not mould) gathering on all surfaces of the bathroom. I wipe it away and it comes back in 48 hours. We have no idea where it's coming from, but has ruined the carpets in the landing. I don't burn candles, so it's not that. The Gas man has checked the boiler which is fine. The problem occurred when we renovated the bathroom a couple of years ago, but all they did was plaster, paint and install a new shower, nothing major. I don't think it's coming from the attic, as there are no holes in the ceiling for it to enter into the bathroom. Any ideas as to what can cause black dust (it's not normal house dust)? I was wondering if it could be the type of plaster that was used?
