Porcelain tiling appears to have grey spots on surface

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I've recently had new porcelain tiling laid just a month ago and woke up this morning to see what looked like raindrops on them but it hadn't been raining and I'm wondering what the spots are. The paving was supplied by the paver and when asked for the name of them he won't say. I'm just wondering if porcelain tiles develop this problem after such a short time.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi do you know if your landscaper used a bridge bond mix/slurry mix on the back of each tile before he laid them? The bridge bond helps make the slab stick to the mortar bed and also prevents the natural process of effluent out of the mortar from seeping into the back of the tile and showing on the surface of tile,if he hasn't used a bridge bond,it's likely the tiles will loosen and show patches and spots over the coming weeks/months

It’s more then likely to be Condensation

Could possibly have been no slurry mix on back of till allowing the water from mortar to seep through and cause damp looking patches on tile

it could be the bad quality of the tiles, or the one who laid them, threw FAIRY into the mix, it turns a gray color, whiter 1 month after laying the tiles
