How to level grout on bathroom wall tile before applying vinyl
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.46 PM
Hi - I want to vinyl paper my bathroom wall on top of the ceramic tiles. The tiles have big dips between the tiles (where the grout is the level is low). How would i best 'fill' the gaps in to have a smooth surface? Thanks so much

The best way to level out floor is to use a good latex self levelling compound, fills in all grout lines and leaves floor ready for floor covering

Use a waterproof filler like an external one. Or just use more grout.
Ensure it has dried fully before applying vinyl

Any vinyl you should be fittin in a bathroom should be thick enough to lose the grout lines without needed to fill them . The proper way to do this is to remove the tiles / plaster the walls and the apply the vinyl .

If you are saying you have a room which is half-tiled from the floor and above this you want to put wallpaper I suggest you go to a tile store and obtain some tile beading to go on the top of the tiles which will level out the area you are wallpapering to. Any gaps below the beading will need to be filled with new grouting though.
