Hot and cold water inlets connection for Handheld bidet in new build

Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 3.02 PM

Hello, We are buying a new build home and the construction of it has not started yet. We have an appointment with the new build sales office very soon They have asked us if we would like any plumbing work done. We are keen to get a Handheld bidet installed that could manage the water temperature too. I have seen a few hand-held bidets in the market that require a hot and cold water inlet. So following are some of my questions: 1) What exactly should I specify to new home builders in terms of water inlets? I am assuming they will be able to put an extension through the wall for this? 2) Some of the products I have seen in the market have different measurements between water inlets so I am unsure what measurement should I tell the builders as I have still not decided which product to go for and what if it doesn't measure to the size as done by the builders 3) Also some products show cold water at the bottom and hot at the top and some vice versa again confused if I should leave that option to the builders and then see which product I can fit into 4) Also happy to receive any experience and advises you may have

The first thing you need to consider is how quickly the hit water will arrive at the location of the outlet. I assume you don't want cold water only and also that you would like the hot water to come through pretty much instantaneously. If you have a combi boiler and the location of the bidet is within a few metres of the boiler then you should only have to wait a few seconds before the hot water arrives. If you have a system boiler with a circulating pump then that will also work well but you will want the return pipe tee'd in very close to the bidet. Any other hot water setups than these two options will mean you will have to wait much longer for the hit water to work its way through to the bidet. The outlet size for most bidet sprays would be 1/2" or 15mm, and this is absolutely fine for a bidet spray.

i would say just let the builder/plumbers know about your wish to have a handheld bidet with hot and cold water inlet/supply. and let the plumbers do what they have to do in accordance with building regs..and don't worry about inlet and outlet connection sizes. plumbers always have many different reducers and adaptors in the tool bag. just as someone mentioned in the previous post u may have to wait a bit for a hot water to come through if the boiler/cylinder is far from the bidet. but this question u can discuss with plumbers for the best option/solution available

first you should consult you water board, there are very stringent rules on the installation of these, incorrect installation can result in the cutting off of your water supply.

I don't see any particular problem in having a handheld bidet installed. And it should be a pretty straightforward job.
