Laws against damaging neighbouring garden
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
My neighbour has built an extension onto his house, and although had permission to enter my garden, has damaged my patio and garden wall. He has made no effort at all after being asked politely to repair it. What shall I do?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I assume that unless you have proof that he damaged it then it would be you word against his in a small claims court which unfortunately would be costly to yourself to go ahead with, my advice would be to place a camera up overwatching your garden and maybe speak to him about repairing it, sorry if I wasn't much help

If I was absolutely certain that I had caused the damage I would fix it no problem to keep everyone concerned happy so that nothing affected me getting a positive feedback from my customer. But sometimes neighbours can lie to get things fixed for free. This is a lesson to be learned for everyone if you need to enter a neighbours garden both parties should definitely take photos of the area before work commences so there is no confusion.
