Rendering Wait Time
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.51 PM
How long between applying K Rend base coat and applying the Silicone should you wait? Does the timing also depend on weather conditions such as less in the warm summer months compared to the winter months?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi
According to this question, normally depends in weather. For instance, when is good weather it takes minimum 2-3 days to dry. It’s better to look for the weather because when is raining it takes longer to dry.
Kind regards,

The timing between applying K Rend base coat and applying the silicone render (topcoat) can vary based on several factors, including weather conditions, humidity, temperature, and the specific products being used. Generally, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the best results. However, here are some general considerations:
Manufacturer's Recommendations: Always refer to the technical data sheets and application guidelines provided by the manufacturer of the K Rend products you are using. They often offer specific instructions on drying times and suitable conditions.
Weather Conditions: Weather conditions can significantly impact drying times. Warmer temperatures and lower humidity levels generally lead to faster drying times. In warmer months, the base coat may dry more quickly, which can affect the optimal timing for applying the silicone topcoat.
Drying Time: K Rend base coats typically require a certain amount of time to dry and cure before the silicone topcoat can be applied. This can range from a few hours to a day or more, depending on the specific product and environmental conditions.
Humidity: High humidity can slow down the drying process, while low humidity levels can speed it up. It's important to consider the humidity level of the environment when determining the appropriate waiting time.
Temperature: Higher temperatures can accelerate the drying process, while lower temperatures can extend it. Some products might have minimum and maximum temperature requirements for proper curing.
Substrate Absorption: The substrate (surface) you're applying the render to can affect drying times. A porous substrate might absorb moisture from the render, potentially affecting drying times.
Type of Render: Different K Rend base coats and silicone topcoats might have varying drying times. Always refer to the specific technical data for the products you're using.
Thickness of Application: The thickness of the base coat can impact drying time. Thicker applications might require more time to dry thoroughly.
Given these variables, it's advisable to contact the manufacturer of the K Rend products you're using for precise guidance on timing between base coat and topcoat application. Additionally, consider local weather conditions and environmental factors when planning your rendering project. Adhering to the recommended drying times is crucial for ensuring the durability and quality of the final finish.

For best results ,leave the base coat to fully cure for 14 days minimum.
This allows for maximum adhesion for the top coat.
Mja properties.
