The most durable would be any Oil-based polyurethanes.

If you want a finish for an area that will get a lot of traffic, oil-based poly is usually preferred due to its heat and moisture resistance. If you're looking for a fast-drying surface that can be recoated without compromising the floor's natural color, water-based polys are recommended. Personally the oil based option is the best.

By far the best polyeurothene finish was provided by using BOURNESEAL, if it's still available. But apply the first or base coat with 50% white spirit thinners, and build up as with normal varnishes. Varnish sort of spreads itself out and responds to brush or roller application.
