Mira advance flex shower unit - no power
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.35 PM
I have a Mira advance flex shower unit which doesn’t have power to it when pressing it’s power button, I have checked the ribbon cable behind the button and reseated it, the breaker in the consumer unit is on and the pull cord switch light is on for the shower but no power light on shower unit itself. It was working, and whilst on it omitted a burning smell and then switched off. I am unable to power it on currently, any advice is appreciated.

If you smelt burning it is always best to get it tested by a professional electrician. Burning small would either be a loose connection causing arcing of the cables. Or an undersized power cable. You should isolate and contact an electrician ASAP.

Hi there,
If the unit is unresponsive, either power to it is no longer present for whatever reason despite the breaker being on at the consumer unit, or the unit is no longer operational due to an internal fault.
The only way to know for sure, is to hire a competent person to inspect it.
Furthermore, we would recommend to have it checked asap, electrics in bathroom locations requires extreme care and strict safety measures clearly stated in IET Wiring regulations 18th edition.
Other suggestion would be speculative.
