Chimney breast removed from downstairs room only, now ceiling is leaking.

Hi I recently moved into a 1900 terraced house, where the downstairs chimney breast has been removed. Now and again I have recently noticed that the ceiling where the chimney is, has been leaking a little. There isn't any issues noted in the upstairs room where the chimney breast is still in place, so I'm guessing its water from within the chimney which is now coming through the ceiling. My problem is I don't know who to contact about it and how big a job it is likely to be to rectify it. If any has any advise on this matter, please let me know. Thanks Sarah
