New lintel is lower in the middle than both ends.

1930's house, large windows to the front and originally there wasn't any lintels above lounge window and the front door. Had new windows with lintel above the lounge window and I'm a bit concerned because it seems a bit bowed in the middle. At one end there's a gap approx 10mm and at the other end it's approx 5mm but in the middle it dips down slightly below the new window frame. Does this seem right? I've been told by an aquaintance that the lintel should be straight and if bowing it could mean that it's not sufficient to hold the weight.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi,
The answer is no. Concrete or steel lintels shouldn’t show noticeable deflection. If there’s a timber lintel, there might be a slight bow over time, but not with a new lintel. I suggest having a competent professional check if the correct lintel has been installed.

If the lintel is lower on one end than the other, this could be because the pad stones are not level with each other. If the lintel has a bow you need it looked at. Call the company back out, if you installed in, speak with building regulations.
