Heating Zone out 14 rooms in a house

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

I have three floors in my house which is being built. Rather than have a traditional 3 ring approach linked to the radiators, is there anyway that each room can be zoned out with its own control unit on the wall. Is there such a system / manifold for central heating? I haven’t done myself justice trying to explain this, but let me k ow if you need more detail

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes it's possible but you would need a output on the manifold per room so each radiator would have to go all the way back to the manifold which would be extremely expensive in materials and depending what it's to be plumbed in could be extremely labour intensified

Yes, it is possible to zone out each room with its own control unit on the wall for central heating. This approach is known as "individual room temperature control" or "room zoning." Instead of having a traditional 3-ring approach linked to the radiators, you can install a modern zoning system that allows you to independently control the temperature in each room or zone of your house. There are several ways to achieve this type of room zoning for central heating: Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs): TRVs are valves that you can attach to the radiators in each room. They have built-in temperature sensors and allow you to set the desired temperature for each room individually. When the room reaches the desired temperature, the TRV will automatically adjust the flow of hot water to the radiator to maintain the set temperature. Zoned Heating System: You can install a zoned heating system that uses motorized valves to control the flow of hot water to different zones or areas of the house. Each zone will have its own thermostat or temperature control unit, allowing you to set different temperatures for different rooms or floors. Smart Thermostats: Nowadays, there are smart thermostats available on the market that offer individual room control through the use of wireless sensors placed in each room. These smart thermostats can adjust the heating system based on the temperature readings from each sensor, providing a more precise and efficient heating solution. Hydronic Underfloor Heating: If your house has underfloor heating, you can install a manifold system that allows you to control the flow of hot water to different zones or rooms through individual thermostats. Ducted Heating with Zone Dampers: If you have a ducted heating system, you can use zone dampers to control the airflow to different zones or rooms, and each zone can have its own thermostat. It's essential to work with a qualified heating and cooling professional to design and install the right zoning system for your specific needs and house layout. A well-implemented zoning system can help you save energy and achieve personalized comfort in each room of your house.

Each floor or zone can be zoned off with mag valves each controlled by the separate room thermostats Each room can have temperature sensors and thermostat which can open valves for each room or zone. This will require additional electric works. Simply divide the zones and add in valves controlled by thermostats for each zone.

You can simply get a dozen of Tado radiator thermostat to do the job. Fit them on all your radiators then you control the each of them individually. Make sure you've got the Tado V3+ starter kit first.
