Steep Valley - Pitched Roof - Water Ingress

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.53 PM

Steep pitched roof water running too fast during heavy rains and overshooting guttering. Hitting skylight window below on downstairs lounge causing water ingress and damage to walls, plaster and dampness. I’ve had 4 roofers look at the problem and none have come up with a solution. I need some way to slow water coming down the gulley in storm events and then some sort of gusher guard to stop water overshooting guttering and causing water ingress / damage to ground floor lounge skylight and dampness on walls. Are any roofers aware of UK products and solutions fit for purpose ? Thanks

Lead the bottom of the valley and curve it up to stop water flying over the gutter

It’s didn’t say it was a valley did it ? There is a good chance the guttering is too low. You need deep flow guttering up as tight as you can. What roof covering is it ?

There are several products available in the UK that can help address the issue of water overshooting the guttering and causing water ingress on a steep pitched roof. One solution is to install gutter guards or leaf screens, which can help prevent debris from clogging the gutters and allow water to flow more smoothly. Another option is to install a rainwater diverter or deflector, which helps redirect the flow of water into the gutters. Additionally, you may want to consider installing a rainwater management system, such as a rainwater harvesting system or a rainwater soakaway, to effectively manage excessive water during heavy storms. It's recommended to consult with a professional roofer or specialist in rainwater management systems who can assess your specific situation and recommend the most suitable products and solutions for your needs.
