How do I hang a bicycle on the sloping ceiling under the stairs?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
Hi, could anyone anyone tell me how to safely and securely hang a bike on the sloping ceiling of an under stairs cupboard. Space restrictions mean the bike must go on the slope. Back wheel of the bike will be on floor (already factored in the bike swinging and have things in place to prevent that) so majority of the weight is on the floor and then add a hook coming off the slope to hold the front wheel. I’m guessing the slope is plasterboard (maybe?). Would I need to add a baton to distribute the load? And if so, how do I figure out where a baton can be screwed in? I have a device to find metal fixings/pipes/electrical cables in walls but not sure how that translates to finding the beams of the stairs. Or would the plasterboard be able to take that load on its own? Obviously don’t want the set up to collapse. Is there a better way to achieve the same thing? For reference, house is a 1980s terrace house and staircase is through the middle of the house with internal walls on both sides. Thank you for your help.
