Gaps in vertical fence featherboard panels

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

Vertical Featherboard fence panels (these are Fence panels made with featherboard and slotted in place between concrete posts) installed very recently and these have gaps so now my very unfriendly rescue dog can see next doors dog. Can I fill the gap? Was thinking of glueing string down each board, caulk or wood filler or beading. Any better ideas? I'm desperate as can't let me dog in the garden now :(

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Personally trying to fill the gap will only make a poor finish. Feather edge boards move a lot once installed so the boards should have an overlap to allow for shrinkage. As you say the job has been done recently I would suggest getting in touch with the contractor to rectify the issues

Feather edge board should’ve been laid 10 mil overlapping each other allowing for shrinkage. My best advice is remove them all and start again.

How big are the gaps ? What about something like expanding foam, can get the tube nozzle and place in between board and spray- foam will obviously expand Just a thought
