Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.35 PM

Hi all, Diyer here.. Did the 7 feet long and 2 fit wide sheet vinyl on the hallway.. Glued double tape one end and while doing other one it is creating waves.. Or bubbles.. Have not done the other side.. Any ideas or suggestions pls.. There are two doors on each side so may be because of that.. Any help of suggestion pls.. Thanks in advance. Edit :it looks like the door areas which are cut into are creating this - ks flooring.. Can you pls elaborate step by step.. I am doing perimeter taping only so not sure

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you are sticking down all over great, glue half and half. You must ensure the area is flat and free from dirt debris etc, also it's a good idea to get the flooring acclimatised to the ambient temperature. Normally if it is bubbling up then it's not got enough room to relax and therefore will need a bit more trimming, for example along a slight wave of the skirting on on a corner. this should then lay flat., even around the architrave of the door lining for example, if a bit looks like its riding up (tiny even) it will be pushing back against the rest and causing the issue.

For small bubbles, an inch or less in diameter, use a large needle to prick the bubble, allowing the trapped air to escape. Then use a towel and a hot iron to heat and flatten the vinyl.

If vinyl is bubbling up it either needs to be left to warm up or fixed down fully
