Bricklaying & Repointing

I used Karcher K3 to clean the brick at the front of my house

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.46 PM

I used Karcher K3 to clean the brick at the front of my house. Will I get trouble such as brick damage? I only realised that high pressure may damage brick. The Karcher maximum pressure is about 1750 PSI. Any advice on how bad the situation is? The brick looks OK, but not sure if problems will arise later.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Depends on the age and type of brick you have. Also the pointing might not be able to withstand the high pressure wash

No the brick should be fine but it could have removed some of the mortar from the joints

It depends on what bricks they are if they are old red rubbers more than likely if they are yellow stocks probery not but depends on condition of the pointing it may remove some or all

if you have blown small holes in any bricks. age unknown of the bricks. this could cause spalling of the face during winter or later on at some time and the brick should be replaced asap
