What Tradesmen/Order Should I Go By For Renovating A Shed into a Office?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.46 PM

Just bought a house with a kitchen extension that has a shed at the end. Shed is accessed from outside and is currently stripped bare (exposed brick, can see the underside of the roof tiles) and on the wall it shares with the kitchen there's a radiator on the kitchen side. I want to get the shed turned into an office, so gonna need to get the roof on it redone, floor leveled out (it's flagstones at the moment and it's not even), flooring installed, walls boarded and plastered, external door bricked up and new doorway installed to the kitchen (so radiator would be moved into the shed/office), electrics would need extending into there as well. My big issue is, I have no idea how you're meant to go about a job this big. In a perfect world I'd love to hire one person who can do the whole thing, but I know that's not realistic. Any suggestions on how to go about this? What kinda of tradesmen I'd need in what order?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I'd say a plumber an electrician and a builder. Builder usually would come and start work first. Then plumbers and electricians to first fix. Then builders back to put walls and everything up and then plumbers and electricians back to the second fix.

Hi For projects like this you should consider a gerenal builder that covers all areas of work, or an All in One team that employs or works alongside multiple trades, most trade operatives with experience will more than likely have contacts for the required trade. This site is perfect for finding trades as you can advertise like you have in description and trades / builders will look for you knowing they have to supply different trades or if they are multi skilled. Alternatively what a lot also do is hire the trade that has the biggest percentage of the project so for you look for a plasterer / Bricky / groundsworker and they can refer or advise you what trades at what stage. Hope this helps

This could be done by one person. If he or she is not qualified in those trades then then will bring someone in.
