When to render the front of the house

We’re in the process of getting all the windows replaced at the front of the house. When complete we want to tile the bay and get the old and broken render removed and redone. Should we tile or render first? My thought is to tile first then render up to the tiles to get a nice sealed edge. Thanks in advance.

Normally the best time to render your house is when the weather stays consistently dry as you don't want any moisture being trapped within the render.
Lime bloom is a potential risk if you were to render within cold and damp conditions which in most cases is permanent damage.
The time it takes for the external render to set depends on the thickness of the coat. The harled coat takes a day to dry and harden normally while the thicker scratch and float coats can take up to a week each. Hardening by carbonation can take up to a month for each milimetre of thickness.

I would always recommend the client if hanging tiles, do this first and the were the battens finish is a datum to give nice line to finish render to.
