Is it possible to replace one LVT (luxury vinyl tile) plank without causing damage to the rest?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.52 PM
I recently had LVT installed in my bedroom and due to clumsiness I dropped my laptop and caused cracks and dent to one of the plank. I was thinking of replacing them as I had a couple spares but I wasn't sure whether it will damage/cause issues to the rest of the floor. I'm using hydroloc click lock style LVT at the moment.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I have to agree with the previous answer. Unfortunately, this is one of the few downsides to laminate flooring. If one gets damaged, the only way to replace it without causing damage to other boards around is to lift up the flooring starting at the end row. I looked at the Hydroloc Click Lock you've referenced and it's impossible to remove and replace a central plank without causing damage to the joints of the surrounding planks, even for a skilled professional.

Hi with any click flooring they are designed to be taken up and re-laid my advise would be to take it apart in rows until you get to the damaged board then replace that then go on to recoup the boards back together hope this helps

I would advise the same as the above answers, with LVT or Laminate you would have to take up all the boards until the damaged board to replace the one you wish too

Just goes to show that there’s no real floor layers answered your question. It is possible and regularly done to replace one plank of a click flooring in the centre of the room WITHOUT taking it all up from one side.
