What kind of damp-proofing do I need for my garden concrete slab that I'm putting a shed on?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Sorry if this is a stupid question! I have a concrete slab in my garden. It is in ok condition, but is not entirely level and has a small crack. I was planning on laying down some type one sub base, overlaid with some 10ml shingle, before putting a shed on it. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure damp doesn't come up through the floors? Do I need to treat the concrete, or lay down a membrane over the shingle? Thanks!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would recommend applying a thick coat of liquid dpc or bitumen paint to any points of the shed that will be in contact with the ground/shingle.

Having worked for a shed company for 5 years in the past I would say nothing is needed. Whatever surface the shed is on will be in contact with water in some way. Aslong as the timber for the shed is tanislied at a minimum the timber should last for 15 years no problems
