One roof truss twisted close to roof ridge

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hi. One roof truss is twisted over the last couple metres as it gets close to the ridge of roof. It’s quite high up but appears to be split slightly too. A couple other ones are ever so slightly twisted on the same face of roof but all the other ones are fine and no twisting on any other face of roof. The roof has had a few leaks in the past, could this be the issue? It’s been wet and when dried out it’s twisted? Thanks.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

At some point they have got damp, due to the heat in most loft spaces, the timber has dried out and twisted. This could be an issue if the leak is not resolved.

If the roof is twisting it may cause potential breaks in tile or slate and potentially stretch and alter your overlap depending on the severity so it could be the cause of a leak however if you have mortared ridge on the roof twisting can cause the mortar to crack and also crack ridge tiles too so id start from there to find your leak
