Anchor aluminium with polycarbonate windows at allotment

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

Hi, I just bought a 190x190 aluminium greenhouse with the polycarbonate windows, real flimsy and wouldnt stand big winds and at allotment there isnt any protection and defo needs anchoring down. Just learnt today that i cant use concrete on allotment so... How do i anchor down? I will have to buy thickest wooden beams and level ground out and bolt them together and rest greenhouse on that or is there a better way for base and how do i anchor it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If your unable to use concrete you could try some ground screws, check out..... diygroundscrews.co.uk

Ideally you want the greenhouse off the ground at least 8 inches so the compost wont be covering your glass. I bought 2 4inch thick post 6ft long, cut them into 6x 2ft lengths and hammered them into the ground, one in each corner then in centres. (You may need more as your green house is bigger) then i run a length of 4x2 over the top, fixed my green house to that then run a scaffold board around the outside. I then used the same on the inside but created a walk way. Topped up with soil to glass level and you are good to go.
