What is the leather trim around bay window tiles called and can it be painted?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 4.07 PM

I wanted to paint the trim around the tiles on my bay window, similar to the black border trim in this image https://www.plasterersforum.com/attachments/021d1f96-48f0-405b-a16f-4f897edae9ae-jpeg.69864/ but I cannot find the name of it or the correct paint for it. Can someone advise me on which paint to use? Bonus question: I bought masonry paint to paint the exterior tiles similar to the above image from red to grey, will the paint stick and is there any tips on how to paint it for a long lasting finish?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Painting tiles you can do with a spray machine and choose your colour. 2-3 years it will definitely keep the colour on it. Fascia you mean? Any exterior paint really.

The trim is not leather, it should be lead. While masonry paint would work it is usually not advisable to paint it as it will swell and shrink in hot and cold weather, it is also flexible.

That is not a leather trim it is a lead flashing and yes you can paint it with special lead flashing paint.

I think you mean lead not leather, bay windows have a lead flashing which prevents water penetration to top of the tiles, answer to painting it and the tiles to your desired colour - use a exterior primer called zinzer, it will provide a base coat and allow the paint to adhere properly.
