Patio on concrete floor where ground is less than 150mm from DPC and air brick
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.52 PM
Hi all, I am in the process of trying to redesign my garden and would like to lay porcelain tiles. However, the floor outside the garden door is concrete and about 100mm below the air brick and maybe 120mm below DPC. Would it be possible to leave a 200mm gap between property wall and patio and fill with pea shingle or something similar? The idea would be that this would allow the rain water to go down the drains and water wouldn't go into the air bricks? If there are any alternative methods, I'd love to hear about them. Thanks

Yes this would be possible or you could run a 2 inch drain to the man home or nearest offsetting

Yes that is possible , other option would be to break 150 mm of the concrete slab so you are below the air bricks and slow the fall towards the garden
