Loft ventilation
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
I live in a 1970’s terrace house , clay tiles with bitumen lining.. I am currently going to top up my insulation and add a raised loft zone floor for storage My soffits do not have any ventilation.. I want to ventilate and have seen many options.. lapvents, soffit vents, vent tiles etc.. 💭 what is the best solution? I also want to add an in inline bathroom extraction fan.. so is it best a soffit based no return vent?

Hi I would go for tile vents and for the bathroom area or en suite you can also get a tile vent that fits onto an extractor fan. There is always the option of soffit vents but before breathable membrane and with the 1F felt you are speaking about it was mainly tile vents.
Hope this helps

most terraced houses dont have soffits just fascia boards. and are slate roofs not tileds. slate/tile vents are the best option. both low and hight level. the bitumen felt can create moister droplets. a vent attached to an extractor fan for bathroom. just make sure you get i high enough extraction pull to remove steam. hope this helps
