Bathroom Fitting

Shower turning off after couple of seconds

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

Hi, My main bathroom shower seems to be working fine ( when turned on the shower pump kicks in and water flows well) but in the en-suite the shower turns on for about 20 seconds than just cuts off. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Hi, thanks for the reply, I have tried lowering the shower head to as low as it goes ( thermostatic shower) and turn on, however it still seems to be the same, shower cuts off after a couple of seconds then doesn't turn back on for a while. Thank you

If you have an adjustable shower head on a rail try putting the head as low as you can in the en-suite the turn it on. Let me know what happens Next step turn the water off remove the mixer bar and check the washers inside the bar where the two large nuts attach the bar to the pipes if the washers have a fine mesh filter fitted occasionally these get blocked

Hi Jerrine, I had this exact same situation for a customer of mine. The problem was the shower in the en-suite, the shower was leaking very slowly so when not in use air was getting into it through the leak and because it was connected to the pump no water dripping through when not in use, so this enabled the air to get in. After trying everything it became obvious that the bar shower had to be changed. This fixed the issue in my case. Hope this helps.

Is the en suit where u have the problem on the top floor? If so you need a different shower pump with negative head pressure
