Can these Items be added to light curcuit
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.50 PM
I had a PIV unit fitted last year and since then my light bulds have been lasting about 3/4 months. I know that there is 2 x dehumidistat fans one in bathroom and a larger one in kitchen and PIV unit connected to the light mains. Could the lights power main be overloaded with the PIV unit and effecting the bulbs? Thanks

I believe the initial step should involve conducting a comprehensive electrical inspection and test to determine the overall condition of the system. It is crucial to investigate whether any faults or inconsistencies are present. Subsequently, the focus would shift to examining the load introduced into the local lighting circuit and assessing whether it is responsible for the lighting issue. It is essential to consider various factors, including the quality and type of lamps being used in the circuit. Given these circumstances, engaging a certified electrician to assess the situation and make informed decisions on the next course of action would likely yield the most favourable outcome

No. The longevity of a lamp has no relation to the circuit. Just try a different manufacturer of lamp. Avoid cheap!

If the PIV unit was overloading the lighting circuit, it would trip the MCB (or blow a fuse), but it would not blow any bulbs. The only reason bulbs "blow" is using cheap inferior brands, (or if there was a huge surge in power to the property, which is highly unlikely as that would also "blow" any other electrical equipment connected).
The fact that the PIV unit hasn't tripped the circuit off says that it is not overloading the circuit and so probably ok to stay connected onto the lighting circuit. That said, it may be wise to get an electrician to check the loading, but in my experience they typically draw around 500 watts so easily within the parameters of a typical lighting circuit.
My answer in short.....try using better bulbs. the extra cost will be worth it.

What are the make and model of the bulbs, where did you buy them from?
