Gas cooker and extraction fan - too close?

Hi, I recently brought a gas oven from currys and paid the extra for safe installation etc. When the engineer arrived with the cooker, he said he was unable to install it as an extraction fan (mounted directly above the oven) is too close and needs to be mounted at least 750mm above the oven. The property is a housing association flat. I asked my housing officer about it and after speaking to the electrical installations manager, he said that it only needs to be 300mm above the oven, and as it's currently mounted at 440mm above the oven, he says it's perfectly fine and they won't do anything about it. Any ideas what my next steps are as Currys are adamant that it needs to be 750mm clear and they refuse to install said oven. Thanks in advance.

Currys are following the industry standard of 750mm distance from the cooker hood to the hot plate (hob rings) as per the standard unfortunately.

British standards and regs require cooker hoods to be atleast 750mm from the gas hob.

Hob if it is with electric should be 650mm min and gaz one need 750mm gab by the regulation

I would like to know where the electrical installation manager managed to find that figure. Honestly sounds like he's talking BS.. At the end of the day it's whatever figure is in the manufacture instructions and not what your electrical installation manager dreamt up.. If there is no figure in the MIs then it has to be installed to British Standards which definitely ain't 300mm
