Support of driveway

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

After removing a pathway and part of driveway for for grassed area, I’ve found a concrete barrier that runs along the the length of the old driveway edge. I presume this was for structural support of the weight bearing edge of the driveway to ensure it doesn’t collapse? If this is the case then is additional support needed along the underside of the new edge of the driveway? Or will the packed hardcore underneath be sufficient? Cheers

Hi if you have lifted the old pathway edge and there is a concrete barrier if you was to compact the aggragate you would not have to lift the concrete barrier as this is hard enough to act as a subbase support for the path relay. But make sure you lay your edge on a new bedd of concrete mix. And render the edge for maximum support. Hope this helps regards Adam
