5amp lamp dimmer

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hello, is it possible to dim a light like this (which doesn’t have a dimmer switch) if I use a dimmable bulb and plug it into a 5 AMP plug with a dimmable light switch? Many thanks! https://www.lights2go.co.uk/shop-by-product-c34/floor-lamps-c7/astro-1221001-limina-floor-light-plaster-p8284/s8284?gclid=Cj0KCQjwmN2iBhCrARIsAG_G2i4X7KH6M1UUV9uXypemiRRKL2iG_dfGQPH2uJtI29oZ1OQpkpUMOGkaAkCbEALw_wcB

If the 5 amp socket is wired from the dimmer, then yes, that will work as long as the dimmer is suitable for the lamp that is fitted, as some LED lamps will not work properly with older dimmers

No need to use a 5A socket. Just use a standard 13A socket and fit a 3A fuse in the plug. Not sure how you would introduce a dimmer switch in that setup though? Were you thinking of swapping out the inline switch?
