Retro fit a Rodding Eye for septic tank
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM
We have a septic tank that drains the outflow into a neighbouring field. We recently had some issues with blockage and a local farmer was able to dig up the pipe and have a go at clearing it. He advised there is a bend in the pipe and we should consider installing a rodding eye. The system is pretty old and it is a clay pipe. Is this a job for a tradesman or can it be done by us one the pipe has been fully exposed? Is it a straight forward job?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You should be able to do this yourself but you will need to cut a section of pipe out with an angle grinder. Then you can insert a junction with a rodding access point. Alternatively you can build a manhole at the change in direction which would be a better option.
Have a look at Hepworth web site you can identify the sections of pipe you will need to do the job.
