How do I know how much sand a cement I need for repointing.
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.34 PM
I want to re point around my garden. How do I work out how many bags of 25kg sand and bags of cement I need? Raking out all the joint back 20mm. If I got the square meter of the individual walls or just the length and height how do I work it out on materials = building sand and cement??
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

you will need around 12kg of sand and 3kg of cement per Sqm (is an estimation, there si mortar you will loose on the floor so you can add some more or you can buy some more if you need closer to the end of the job)

Guesstimate it keep the receipt and take back the unopened excess. If short of sand cement go back for more 🙄

Hi,it depends on the existing as they differ, especially can be done with building sand, sharp sand
It comes 6:1(building sand/cement ),if too strong in cement can damage the edges of the bricks due to movements in the wall,I did also 5:1
For colour use yellow sand for light colour, red for darker, also can be dyed with mortar colours
