LED motion sensor does not turn on at my house, but turned on at my parents flat
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.33 PM
Hi, I have an LED motion sensor light, that works at my parents flat. However, when I connected to my house, it does not turn on. I checked the electric current using a Test Kit and the current goes to the LED light. I have tested the LED motion sensor again at my parents flat and it is still working. I have tested several times. Does that mean the electrical system at my house is weak or strong? How to fix this issue? Many thanks

A sensor requires a permanent live feed, and sometimes a neutral depending on the type, and a switched live out. Where are you mounting it at your house? If it doesn't operate as it should the wiring is different to that at your parents house.

It sounds like there’s an issue with the installation at your house either the wiring or maybe the cable itself. Someone would have to come and take a look and do some testing to give you a definite answer.

There are many variables why the light may not be working. It isn’t just a case of ‘power being there’ as you said. Does it have 230 volts? Does it have a neutral? My best advice is call an electrician, don’t mess with stuff you don’t know. It would take an experienced sparky less time to diagnose/fix than it took to write your question.
