Induction hob into 12mm worktop

We have a induction hob which we want to fit to our 12mm worktop. Issue is the hob says min thickness needs to be 16mm. If the drawer directly below the hob is a blank before getting to the actual drawers soes this negate the need for a thicker worktop or am i misunderstanding things? Thank you

If it’s a false drawer front you will be fine

It depends what your worktop is made out of I’m presuming it’s Dekton if it is that’s fine 👍

Unless you can create space below the worktop, for example have a fake, fixed drawer front, then it is pretty much impossible to meet the hob manufacturers installation requirements. At that point it's either a thicker worktop or fit a standard electric (or gas) hob.

The hob specifies min 16mm work surface is probably more to do the fixing clips which hold the hob in place rather than what’s underneath if. You may have use so form of a spacer blocks to make up the distance if the hob fixings do not secure the hob when tightened up fully.
