Fencing

Dismantle of my fence

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.52 PM

My neighbours have just had a new fence erected. At the finished end as it joins my fence their workmen have dismantled my fence from the old stake (which was very secure) joining to theirs leaving my panel swinging in the breeze. Before this it was 100% neat and stable. It looks like they started work on the fence at the far side and when they got to my join it was cut short. Making the neighbours a niceness neat fence but dismantled mine and just left it not supported. Is this acceptable? where do I go from here? Is it the workmen or neighbours responsible to fix mine. Or mine?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The workmen should have left the fence how it was found, as in just as solid. And re attached your fence to the new one. I would contact them

As with law regarding waste disposal, the responsibility falls to your neighbour. They should vet thr contractor and check work done to a good standard. How are you meant to hold someone responsible, plus neighbour could have asked them to do such a fix . So logic prevails and law sites person who employed contractor responsible for work done .

Your fence panel should of been made secure with a new post fitted to take your panel and also your neighbour’s panels,it sounds to me that a 3 way concrete post was needed. I would have a word with your neighbour to see if you can get the contractors back to fix this as it is not very professional.
