Cap off chimney but keep open fireplace for shelving
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.52 PM
Hello, We have an open fireplace in our living room that we currently have a shelving unit in for sky, WiFi etc. We are looking to make this more permanent and have the chimney blocked off but retain the open fireplace, so that we can tile the base of the fireplace and install shelving. Would anyone be able to tell me who best to use for this?

Just go online and order a plate and bracket’s and make a frame to fix the plate to it so you can still have access to the chimney but will be closed off and get yourself a cowl for the chimney pot.

I would get a chimney balloon. It is a real thing. Go on line to buy. Because in summer I would take it out to vent and cool the house. They about £35.

I think k when you block off the bottom I would put a vent in as warm air from the room can still go up the chimney. Definitely put a cowl or cap on the pot to
