Waste pipe blocked - from saniflo toilet

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

We have a Saniflo toilet plumbed in upstairs, but to get to the 20mm pipes run under the floorboards and have at least 2 right angle bends in them. A couple of days ago the water stopped disappearing but the macerator was running. We know the macerator is working fine as when the waste pipe is disconnected the water flows, so somewhere in the line there is a blockage. Any suggestions as to what we can try given the right angled bends and narrow pipes? I know chemicals are not an option, but there was a lot of scale in the macerator when it was checked so i'm wondering if it could be a lump, if so do you think pouring some macerator descaler down the pipe could be an option? Cheers

Unlikely to unblock it I think the only way is to take up the boards and cut out the bends as it's very likely that the problem is there. I presume the waste is solvent weld so it's easy enough to repair it

Another option is to remove the toilet to access the waste and put a 10mm electric drain cleaner and then flush it all through with hot water and abit of pressure another option is use a wet vac after the 10mm electric drain cleaner to suck the blockage out.this could saves breaking or lifting flooring ect..

Probably blocked at the bends as 90° bends should not be used

90° bends shouldn't be used..swept bends are better, combining two 45° bends together will give it a better flow. I dont think putting macerator descaler down it will clear the blockage. The pipe needs checking for any potential 90° bends to be removed & new swept bends added.
