Hi there,
As your house is built in 1930 I would strongly recommend that you repoint the house in lime mortar opposed to a sand/cement mix. The mix is typically 1 part lime : 2.5 parts sand. This will allow the brickwork to breath and will stop any damp/mould issues in the future.
Many thanks

Hello, houses built back in the 1930s was built with both cement based mortar and lime based, but if your saying the mortar is sand like colour I think it may lime and yellow builder sand mix to match, if you send me a photo via my email on profile i can assist you more.

Hi,By the 1930s, masons were using equal parts Portland cement and lime.Cement lime mortar should not normally be used below the damp proof course (dpc).I would advice to use a mix of at ratios of 1:0.25:3 (cement:lime:sand),due to using only lime and sand takes too long to cure(harden)
