10 yr warranty roofer gone out of business

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi folks, we had our roof replaced 8 years ago. Our building is 4 stories and grade 2 listed, so the scaff costs + work was pretty costly. We've a leak now, but the roofer has gone out of business. He did offer a 10 year guarantee, but we can't reach him to follow up. I had thought our buildings insurance would then kick in, but they say no. Are there any other options? Ways for the warranty to be covered if the company has ceased trading. The invoice states the work is covered, but not who this is underwritten by.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I am sorry this has happened to you, unfortunately normal practice is if a business ceases trading then all warranties/ guarantees become void. However, if your paperwork is insurance backed then you can contact them for more information and possible help.
