Get ventilation from an en suite bathroom in mid terraced house

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi Tradesmen 👋, I have 2 en suites on the ground and middle floor or a 3 storey terraced house. I can't vent it through the chimney breasts (which they are both next to) or a side stack to vent the ground floor one to the 1st floor en suite as both options were deemed not ideal by the plumber and electrician. *The top floor bathroom is already being vented through the ceiling but we have no options for the middle and ground floor.* What are my other options? I thought I could vent it through the front of the house through the chimney breast initially.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You cant vent anything through a chimney stack as it is against all known building regulations. You need to vent to an outside wall, loft with vents or some sort of ducked system.

It has to be vented outside through proper ducting to protect your own property against damp. You could imagine the potential hazard if somebody unwittingly tried to recommission a fire and you had tapped into the chimney with a vent, carbon monoxide and a fire hazard.
