Fencing

Height of a fence inside the garden

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.45 PM

I want to put a piece of fence between my drive and the garden, perpendicular to the front boundary. ie the whole section is inside my property. What height can this be without planning permission? I assume where it meets the boundary it would need to meet the legal height 1m. It's sloping ground towards the road so I'm planning on stepping down the fence Thank you to those who have replied. HOWEVER :) I know the rules about fences on boundaries, what I want to know is if there is a maximum height for a fence INSIDE my boundary? Imagine you are separating your front garden from your rear garden because you have a dog, is there a height restriction?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

On the front of a property you are allowed 3ft / 1m without planning permission and for a rear garden fence it is 6ft/2m without permission. I hope this helps thanks Tom

In your back garden the maximum height is 2m and in the front the height is 1m without planning permission.
