Insurance back guarantee or roofing company own guarantee
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 3.01 PM
I need to have a new roof valley, and lead work replaced around a chimney as well as 2 additional courses of brick. 1) One roofer is offering a 10 year insurance backed guarantee, 2) the other a 5 year company guarantee (this company's quote is £360 less/12 per cent cheaper ) Company 2 said it is rare for their to be any problems if the job is done well Can any one advise please
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A propper roofer doesn't need to give a guarantee, a propper roofer will always fix the problem...

Guarantees are only as good as the people who give them and if the insurance company send there own workman I would request a inspection as iv seen some work carried out from insurance companies workman and it’s been atrocious - personally I would get my own tradesman and get it done and the best price is to get it done correctly and cheaper can end up more expensive

If you know the second company. And you can see reviews. Then 5yrs is a good guarantee. That’s more than you get with a 60k car. Remember guarantees are only valid for work done . If it’s a storm or damage other than that which most will say is after 5yrs then you have had it.
I would say Save yourself the money , go for the five years one. But it’s your money.
