Correctly recent gloss paint job

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.51 PM

I have recently painted my windowsills in Dulux once gloss. However, I have noticed there are few imperfections with my work, maybe there was some debris on my brush. It has been 48 hours but I noticed the paint is still a little soft. I presume I paint it a little bit too thick. my question is should I wait a few weeks for the paint to be fully cured and hard before sanding it and repainting or am I safe to pick out the debris, sand it and repaint it now whilst it is still soft or will that make a big mess?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would suggest that you wait till it hardings as if you sand it now when it is soft it can tend to crumble up but when it hardens it will sand better.and before you paint it again I would suggest that you wipe the surface with a damp rag so that you remove all dust before painting. God bless john

If you don’t wait for it to dry you will cause more imperfections you need to get a scraper and get out the debris and then once done sand it all back to the original coating and fill in any blemishes and then go again and spread your paint fairly around the surface to gain the best results

Hi good evening, The problem on that case I can be to many but when you painted make sure everything is dry and not have any water around or any dump! I don’t think the paint brush I make that serios problem or to tick the strat of the paint…anyway is two options 1 try to clean everything and make sure the surface is clean and dry and after you can use a quick dry undercoat exterior and after this when everything is dry and clean you can put the gloss on it!👍 2 wait to dry everything and after try to scrape or burn the existing paint and after you can apply the quick dry undercoat (exterior if is outside) and you can filing on the top of the surface I need and if yes then you can sanding and apply again undercoat and after you can put the gloss! I hope you find my opinion useful! Kind regards Silviu
