Gas hob with 27mm wooden worktop

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.51 PM

Hi All, I've got 27mm oak worktops but am now struggling to find a suitable hob as all say the worktop should be 30mm. I'm wondering if whether leaving an addition 3mm between the gas gob and the oven would solve the problem eg is this about the amount of clearance or whether the worktop itself must be 30mm? Thank you!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi 3mm will not hinder a oven below or a drawer pack, however if it is a drawer pack below a hob a deflector will be req. Best Stu

Hi You have two main thicknesses of worktop 30mm and 40mm but the actual thickness is alway 28mm and 38mm manufacturers just round it off. I think your worktop is probably 28mm and not 27mm, but even if it’s the latter 1mm will make absolutely no difference as far as installation is concerned. Hope that helps..

To recover the 3mm, just get pack of worktop biscuits where we use to join worktops and place it right where the clamps will sit and tighten very slowly. I hope this sort out the issue. Rgds Dariush
