Hot water out of cold taps?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi We’ve had a new combi boiler fitted plus new radiators, replacing a heat only system. The ‘Benchmark’ has been filled in & signed off by the engineers without going through anything with us. The radiators are working fine but we have found that the hot water is now coming out of all the cold tap outlets in the house, even the toilet cistern is full of hot water once filled. How could this have happened and is this a big job to rectify? Many thanks for your help!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

This is not unusual and in moat caees it's not a big issue. What is surprising the bench mark has been signed to say hot water checked at all outlets. Experienced and knowledgeable gas safe enginner should be able remedy and rectify issue within a couple of hours. This is assuming everything else is plumbed and connected correctly. BRgds, Jordan

this is unusual and should not have occurred, this is a pipework misconnection issue, rushed the job and did not check hot water outlets as required, get them back to rectify, also check they have not signed off anything else incorrectly, you do not need a gas engineer to rectify this any plumber can solve this.

It seems they must have crossed the pipes over. Could be a quick 15 minute job. I'd contact the engineer to check over the job.

Wen they fitted the boiler they have plumbed in incorrectly hot water pipe to cold water inlet at the boiler , Pipes needs to be rectified at the boiler In order to resolve the issue 🔧🧰

Hi. Most likely it is a wrong plumbing connection....but nothing is sure without a proper survey. Definitely that heating engineer should check every hot water outlet from your property, hot water temperature, etc. I hope he done proper power flush! All the best!
