No mortar on side of ridge tiles

Victorian terrace - Reroof, the front ridge tiles on the point section of the roof do not have mortar down the sides, is this correct ? Roofers response was they have been back bedded? Thanks

No need if the roof is slated just mortar on but joints

If it slate or a flat concrete tile you can put the cement inside and just see the cement on the joint the cement is inside the ridge it is called Secret bedding .you can do all over the roof if is slate if it is flat concrete you can only do it on the ridge hope this helps.

Yes all Victorian rooms to require concrete to Gables And ridge tiles

When secret bedding the ridge tile on the verge, we always drill and fix ridge for extra strength as the ridge on the verge side is more likely to come off with a strong wind
